FAQs

What should I expect from my first session?

An initial consultation will include a  detailed intake form, checking your pulse and looking at your tongue to assess your overall health.  During the treatment your acupuncturist will palpate the body to determine the points for needles to be inserted. Needles are left in for about 20 minutes and often treatment is combined with cupping, gua sha and/or acupressure.

Does it hurt?

Acupuncture is a surprisingly pleasant experience!  The needles themselves are only the size of a few hairs. You might feel a small prick or dull ache when they are inserted initially but the feeling typically resolves quickly and many people do not feel the needles at all.

What can acupuncture treat?

Acupuncture can be helpful in a variety of conditions including: pain, stress, anxiety, depression, addiction, fertility, PMS, allergies, fatigue, autoimmune conditions and much more.
